In short, staying at Vaujany means all levels of skiing are available from loads of family friendly blues to spectacular long hard runs for the most experienced skier on the planet.

Alternatively once up to 2,800m, take a short cable car that takes you right up to 3,330m and the chance to do what is reputedly the longest black run in Europe or even the world - The legendary ‘Sarenne’ which drops down into the gorge below Alpe d'Heuz.

Or stay high and ski the many runs on the glacier at 3,000m or take the ultimate challenge by facing the ‘Tunnel’. Ski through a 100m long tunnel hewn through the rock - little over six foot high and wide - emerging high on the mountain to face a seemingly near vertical ‘suicidal’ run down! Its the skipeak!

Vaujany offers an unparalleled mix of ski and snowboard experiences from beginners to the most advanced level.

The resort has its own ski area at Montfrais offering a wide range of tree lined blue runs, a fun snow park, debutant arena and beginners slope, the Ecole Ski Francais school for all ages and abilities as well as a choice of three excellent restaurants. A blue run takes you back to the village.

Vaujany has its own direct cable car which climbs up to 2800m high above Alpe d’Huez offering access to the vast Alpe d'Huez ski area and a magical mix of outstanding runs right down to below 1,300m!

How does this sound for the first run of the day....?

‘Leave the chalet at 08.35 and take the first cable car up at 08.45...Within five minutes you are over 2000m and within another five minutes you are up to 2,800m. By 09.00 you are the first out of the car, skis on where a virgin piste awaits you offering the equivalent of a 1.5km vertical drop!  A range of uninterrupted ski runs are then on offer including fantastic ‘cruisey’ reds, tree lined blue runs (with those all important flat out motorways sections) and scintillating black runs of a standard that even capable intermediate ski abilities can tackle. Depending on your speed and absence of comfort breaks you can arrive at the bubble below Vaujany in a breathtaking time. But whatever your speed - it is ALWAYS exhilarating! And tomorrow that first run can be a different descent as far down as Oz and the next down to Alpe d’Huez!
